Mail Export is a Legacy Export provider allowing users to export to email inboxes and folders during the Document Export activity.
This provider exports documents to mail servers using the IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) protocol. This is an Internet standard protocol used by email clients to receive messages from mail servers using a TCP/IP connection. It is the protocol used by almost all modern email clients. Basically, it's exporting to an email server.
| ! | Mail Export is one of the depreciated Legacy Export providers as of version 2.72. Going forward, it is considered best practice to use a CMIS Export provider with the appropriate Connection Type. The CMIS Binding equivalent to Mail Export is the "IMAP" Connection Type. Furthermore, if you use Microsoft Outlook, the Exchange binding has increased functionality for importing and exporting via email using Microsoft Exchange servers. You'll want to use that one over the IMAP binding. |
