Test Batch (Import Provider)
"Test Batch" is a specialized Import Provider designed to facilitate the import of content from an existing inventory_2 Batch in the test environment. This provider is most commonly used for testing, development, and validation scenarios, and is not intended for production use.

What is a Test Batch?
A Test Batch is a Batch created and managed within Grooper’s test environment. Unlike production Batches, test Batches are only visible to designers in the Design page. They are used for development, configuration validation, and workflow testing. Test Batches allow users to experiment with batch processes, document classification, extraction, and other activities without affecting live production data.
Test Batch Import: Purpose and usage
The Test Batch Import Provider enables users to import all content—folders, documents, and pages—from a selected test Batch into a new Batch for further processing. This is especially useful for:
- Reprocessing test data to validate new configurations
- Cloning test Batches for iterative development
- Investigating errors and failures on cloned production Batches.
- Simulating production workflows in a safe, isolated environment
When using this provider, all items from the selected test batch are cloned, preserving file attachments and structure. The original test batch remains unchanged, ensuring that test data can be reused multiple times.
Configuration
To use the Test Batch Import Provider:
- Select the provider type Test Batch when configuring an import.
- Set the "Batch" property to choose the test Batch whose contents should be imported.
Only test batches are available for selection. Properties such as "Maximum Items Per Batch", "Sparse Import", "Folder Levels", and "Content Type" are not applicable and are hidden for this provider.
How it works
During import, the provider clones all items from the selected test batch and adds them to a new batch. File attachments, structure, and document relationships are preserved. The import process does not modify the original test batch.
Usage notes
- The Test Batch Import Provider is intended for testing and development only.
- It is not recommended for production imports or live data processing.
- Use this provider to validate batch processes, test extraction logic, or simulate workflow changes before deploying to production.
Example workflow
- Create or select a test Batch containing sample documents.
- Configure the Test Batch Import Provider and select the desired test Batch.
- Run the import to clone all content into a new Batch for further processing, such as classification, extraction, or review.
